Red Cross responds to Hurricane Ian devastation

The American Red Cross is working tirelessly to help people devastated by Hurricane Ian. Many communities are unrecognizable after the storm and volunteers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia are helping those affected and will be helping them recover for weeks and months to come.

In North Carolina, Red Cross disaster responders worked throughout the weekend alongside our community partners to monitor and assess damages from Hurricane Ian in 27 counties. In our region, the following counties suffered the most impact: Alamance, Cabarrus, Caswell, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Mecklenburg, Randolph, Rockingham and Rowan counties.

As disaster trained workers continue supporting disasters locally, volunteers from the Greater Carolinas will deploy to help with relief efforts in Florida.

The Red Cross and our partners are providing a safe place to stay, food to eat as people begin to pick up the pieces after the storm.
